Doctor Lauren Keller is a brilliant Boston physician with a troubled personal life. When her mother asks her to return to her Pennsylvania hometown to care for her hospitalized father, she leaves behind a shattered marriage, a stalled career and a distant relationship with her eight-year-old son. Through stories told by friends and relatives, Lauren discovers a different side of her father.
