Do you ever feel like you made the wrong decision by becoming a Physical Therapist? The high volume of patients, endless documentation, and mediocre pay can really start to wear you down. Throw massive student debt into the mix and all of a sudden it’s the perfect storm for burnout. My name is Danny Matta and I know exactly how you feel. I know how you feel because I’m a Physical Therapist that lost my love for the profession but… I was able to get it back. For me, the path that got me back to loving being a Physical Therapist again was starting a cash practice. This wasn’t part of my grand plan…in fact, I thought I would be a career Physical Therapist in the Army. As I progressed through my early career, I felt firsthand what it’s like to drown in documentation and be swamped with patients. I questioned if I had made a mistake and if I wanted to continue in my chosen career field. The worst part was the burnout. I would come home after work and be so tired, I would fall asleep on the couch while my kids played on the ground in front of me. I had nothing left in the tank for them. I was exhausted. Not by the volume of work but by my lack of satisfaction with my current career. All that changed in 2014 when I made the difficult decision to get out of the Army and start my own cash practice. Over the last 9 years, I’ve been able to grow my practice to the largest all-cash PT clinic in Georgia. That practice has created both time and financial freedom for me and my family. This isn’t the direction I thought I would go when I was commissioned as an Officer in the Army in 2007. I’m a reluctant entrepreneur but thankful that my life took this very different path. This book is the book I wish existed when I started my practice. I wish someone would have taught me how to sell. I wish someone would have taught me how to market. I wish someone would have told me what skills I needed at different stages of business. I wish someone would have taught me how to build a great business. I have made more mistakes than I can remember. I know now that all my mistakes and pain, have allowed me to write this book for you. Think of this book as a field manual. A book you can reference when you get stuck. A book that’s not born out of theory but out of boots on the ground, and hard lessons learned. If you follow the steps in this book, you can succeed in the cash practice world. You can make more money. You can see way fewer patients. You can work with only your dream patients. You can take your career back into your own hands. Most importantly, you can get back to loving being a clinician again. What we do is so important and we need you to be satisfied with your work. You deserve it. Your patients deserve it. Your family deserves it.
